Measure and draw tools on the map
Measure distances and areas directly on the map, and draw pins, lines, polygons and circles. Find the tools in the toolbox on the Map, pick a colour, close shapes and clean up again.
The measure and draw tools on the map let you measure distances and areas directly on a parcel and draw pins, lines, polygons and circles on top of the map. Every distance and area is computed with geodesic precision, so the figures hold up for quick estimates in the field or on screen. Both tools live in Map inside the toolbox in the lower-left corner.
1Open the toolbox
Go to Map and find the toolbox in the lower-left corner. Click Toolbox (the wrench icon) to expand the tools:

The toolbox and its measure and draw buttons are a desktop feature on the map. If you need to measure on a phone, open the map in the browser on a computer.
2Measure distance and area
Click Measure distance / area (the ruler) to start the measure tool. The cursor changes to a crosshair:
- Distance: Click a start point, then add further points. Each segment shows its own length, and a running Σ total appears at the last point.
- Area: Click at least three points to form a shape. When a shape is closed, the area is shown in its centre.
While you measure, a small info box sits at the bottom of the map with the running distance and — for shapes — the area:
The buttons in the info box control the measurement:
- Luk areal — closes the current points into a shape and shows the area.
- Ny måling — finishes the current measurement and starts a new one, so several measurements can sit on the map at once.
- Ryd alt — removes all measurements.
Press Esc or click the Afslut button at the last point to finish a measurement. Click close to your first point and the shape closes automatically.
3Draw on the map
Click Draw on the map (the pencil) to open the draw toolbar. Pick a tool and a colour:

How to use each tool:
- Placér pin — click anywhere on the map to drop a marker.
- Tegn linje — click a start point and an end point; the line is drawn immediately.
- Tegn polygon — click points around the area. Use Luk polygon or click close to the start point to close the shape.
- Tegn cirkel — click the centre, then click again for the radius. As you drag, the hint Klik for radius is shown.
To discard a drawing in progress, click Annuller in the toolbar.
4Delete and clean up
To remove a single object, select Slet objekt in the draw toolbar and click the object you want to remove.
Drawings and measurements are kept only in the current session in your browser. They do not carry over if you reload the page or open the map on another device. To save an image of the result, use Save screenshot or Print map in the toolbox.
