Biometric login on mobile
Sign in to Arcili with your fingerprint, Touch ID or Face ID in the mobile app. Enable it with Remember me at first password login, then use one tap or automatic sign-in, and turn it off by signing out.
Biometric login lets you open Arcili with your fingerprint, Touch ID or Face ID instead of typing your password every time. You enable it once from the login screen in the mobile app, and from then on you sign in with a single tap — or fully automatically when the app opens. The feature is only available in the native iOS/Android app.
Biometric login only works in the native mobile app on a device where you have already set up a fingerprint, Touch ID or Face ID. It is not available in the browser.
1Sign in with your password and turn on Remember me
The first time, sign in the normal way. Choose the Password tab on the login page, enter your email and password, and tick Remember me before signing in:
Email — [email protected] Password — •••••••• Remember me Sign in
When sign-in succeeds — and your device supports biometrics — Arcili stores your session securely and confirms with the message **Touch ID login enabled** (or **Face ID login enabled** / **Fingeraftryk login enabled**, depending on your device).
> [!NOTE]
> The biometric login offer only appears when **Remember me** is on. Without the tick, no session is stored and the biometric button will not appear next time.
## 2. Sign in with biometrics next time
The next time you open the login page, a biometric button appears below the login form:
:btn[Sign in with Touch ID]{variant=outline icon=key}
Tap the button and confirm with your fingerprint or face. The text adapts to your device — for example **Sign in with Face ID** or **Sign in with Fingeraftryk**. Once verification succeeds, the app opens directly without a password.
## 3. Automatic sign-in when the app opens
When biometric login is enabled, Arcili tries to sign you in automatically as soon as the app opens on the login screen — you do not have to tap the button yourself. You are asked to confirm with biometrics once per app session.
If you tap **Cancel** in the biometric dialog, nothing happens — you can always sign in manually with your password instead.
## 4. If biometrics fail
If verification fails, Arcili falls back to your device's own passcode (PIN or pattern) so you can still get in. You can also always pick the :chip[Password]{active} tab and sign in the normal way.
Common messages:
- **Touch ID is locked due to too many attempts — unlock your device with your passcode** — too many failed attempts. Unlock the device with your passcode to reset biometrics.
- **No Touch ID is set up on this device** — you still need to register a fingerprint/face in your device's own settings.
- **Set up a device passcode in Settings to use biometric login** — your device has no passcode, which biometrics requires.
## 5. Turn off biometric login
Biometric login is turned off when you sign out: Arcili clears the stored session, and the biometric button disappears until you sign in with your password and **Remember me** again. You can also remove your biometrics (fingerprint/Face ID) in your device's own settings — then there is nothing left to confirm with.
> [!TIP]
> Sign out from all devices if you lose your phone. That invalidates the stored session so no one can use biometrics to get into your account.
