BR18 reader: look up the rules live
Look up the full Danish Building Regulations 2018 inside the app — browse by topic, search by chapter or paragraph, and jump from Rex's citations to the full legal text.
The BR18 reader lets you look up the full Danish Building Regulations 2018 right inside the app — without leaving your conversation with Rex. Browse by topic, search by chapter or paragraph, and when Rex cites a rule in his reply, jump straight to the full legal text with one click. That keeps the documentation at your fingertips.
1Open the reader
There are two ways to open the BR18 reader:
- Click the book icon in the chat header — the Open Building Regulations button opens the panel beside your conversation.
- Click a rule reference in one of Rex's replies. When Rex cites a paragraph, it appears as a clickable chip — click it and the reader opens with that exact paragraph selected.
Danish Building Regulations 2018 Browse the full legal text — click any paragraph in Rex's reply to jump straight here. Search chapter or paragraph…
Rex is the specialist agent for BR18. Find him under Chats — pick the BR18 agent, or ask the master assistant to suggest a specialist.
2Browse by topic
When no paragraph is selected, the reader shows an overview. BR18's chapters are grouped into ten domains so you quickly find the right topic:
Administration & building permits · Access & layout · Fire Structures · Energy & indoor climate · Water, moisture & drainage Sound, light & pollution · Installations & waste Calculation & documentation · Certification
Click a chapter to expand its paragraphs. Each paragraph appears as a small button (e.g. § 90) — click it to read the full text.
3Search by chapter or paragraph
To go straight to a specific rule, use the search field at the top:
Search chapter or paragraph…
- Type a chapter number or name to narrow the list.
- Type a paragraph number to filter paragraphs within a chapter.
- Clear the search with to see the full overview again.
4Read the paragraph
When you select a paragraph, the full text opens:
Chapter — the chapter number and title appear at the top for context. Contents — Stk. 1 Stk. 2 Stk. 3 jump straight to each subsection. Full text — the entire paragraph with all subsections, highlighted on open.
If the paragraph has several subsections you get a small table of contents ( Contents) with shortcuts to Stk. 1, Stk. 2 and so on. At the bottom you can click Open on bygningsreglementet.dk to view the official source.
On smaller screens one view shows at a time. Use Back to overview at the top to return to the chapter tree.
5Keep working side by side
On desktop the reader sits beside your conversation — the chat shifts left so you can read the paragraph and keep writing to Rex at the same time. Ask about a specific provision while the text is open, then close the panel with or Escape when you're done.
The legal text is a lookup tool, not a legal assessment. Always treat the official source on bygningsreglementet.dk as the definitive basis for building cases.
