Setting up two-factor authentication (2FA)

Enable two-factor authentication on your Arcili account: scan the QR code with an authenticator app, confirm with a 6-digit code, and learn when the code is required — including during password reset.

Updated 6 June 2026

Two-factor authentication (2FA) adds an extra layer of security to your Arcili account using a one-time code from an authenticator app (TOTP). Once enabled, Arcili asks for a 6-digit code in addition to your password — so a stolen password alone is not enough. Follow the flow from setup to verification.

1Find Two-factor authentication in Settings

Open Settings and locate the Two-factor authentication section:

Two-factor authentication

Two-factor authentication — Extra layer of security with an authenticator app (TOTP)

We recommend MFA for all users. It is required for Arcili staff and tenant owners.

Set up MFA

Note

If the section already shows Enabled, you have 2FA turned on. You can remove it again from the same section — see step 4.

2Start the setup

Click Set up MFA. The Enable MFA dialog opens with three steps:

Enable MFA

1. Open an authenticator app (Google Authenticator, 1Password, Authy, etc.)

2. Scan the QR code below — or enter the secret key manually:

Secret keyJBSWY3DPEHPK3PXP

If you do not already have an authenticator app, install one on your phone first. If you cannot scan the QR code, copy the Secret key with the copy button and enter it manually in the app instead.

3Confirm with a 6-digit code

Your authenticator app now shows a 6-digit code that rotates every 30 seconds. Type the current code into the field under step 3:

3. Enter the 6-digit code from the app

000000

Click Confirm & enable. On success the section shows Enabled, and the message MFA enabled confirms it.

Tip

Enter the code before the timer in the app runs out. If the code is rejected, wait for the next one and try again — the code must be exactly 6 digits.

4How 2FA works afterwards

Once 2FA is active, Arcili asks for a code from your authenticator app at login. The same applies when you reset your password: before the new password can be saved, you must enter your 6-digit code.

To turn 2FA off again, go back to Two-factor authentication and click Remove MFA. You are asked to confirm, since it reduces your security.

Important

If you lose access to your authenticator app, you cannot restore 2FA yourself. Contact Arcili Support for recovery. For that reason, store the secret key somewhere safe so you can add it on a new device.
