Transfer team ownership
As the owner you can transfer ownership of your team to another person from Team → Danger zone. You become an admin and the new owner gets all permissions. If the recipient is a member it happens immediately — otherwise an invitation is sent.
As the owner, you can transfer ownership of your team to another person. You do this from Team under the tab, and it only takes a moment. Once the transfer is complete, you become an admin yourself — and the new owner gets all owner permissions, including cancelling the account and changing the plan.
Only an owner can transfer ownership. As an admin you won't see this action. Transferring is a Danger zone action — it affects the entire company, so think carefully before you proceed.
1Open the Danger zone
Go to Team in the left sidebar and select the tab at the far right of the tab bar.
The Danger zone gathers the destructive actions that affect the entire company. You'll find the Transfer ownership card at the top:
Transfer ownership — Make another person the owner. You become an admin.

2Understand the consequences
Click Transfer ownership. The dialog opens with an Important to know box that summarizes what happens:
- You automatically become an admin and can no longer cancel or change the plan.
- If the recipient is not yet a member, an invitation is sent. You remain owner until they accept.
- If the recipient is already a member, the transfer happens immediately.
The transfer is only immediate if the recipient is already a member of the team. If the person isn't a member, an invitation is sent and you keep your owner permissions until they accept.
3Enter the new owner
Fill in the New owner email field with the address of the person who should take over ownership:
You can add an optional greeting in the Personal message (optional) field — it's included if an invitation is sent to a new recipient.
4Confirm the transfer
Click Transfer ownership at the bottom of the dialog to complete it. You'll get a confirmation that depends on the situation:
Once the transfer is done, you lose your owner permissions and continue as an admin. The new owner can then manage the plan, payment and transfer ownership onwards themselves.
Just want to tidy up roles without changing the owner? You do that under the tab, where you can change roles and remove access.
