Troubleshooting: Project development (save, loading, sync)
Fix save, loading, and sync issues in Project development: check the save status in the header, reload when data is missing, and get the 3D view to load.
Project development saves automatically while you work, so you rarely have to think about it. When something does act up — a change that won't show, a project that feels locked, or a 3D view that won't load — you can almost always fix it yourself in under a minute. This guide walks you through the four most common situations.
1Check the save status in the module header
At the top of an open module, the header always shows whether your work is saved. The indicator cycles through three states:
- Saving… — Arcili is saving right now. Wait a moment.
- Saved — everything is stored on the server (green check).
- Time stamp — the time of the most recent save.
You can also save manually with Save. When it succeeds, you'll see the message Project saved.
If the status stays on Saving… for more than ~30 seconds, or you see Could not save project, your network connection has usually dropped. Check your internet and try Save again.
2When you leave the project
Project development saves automatically when you navigate away from a module or close the project, so you don't lose work. If you try to close the browser tab mid-edit, the browser warns you first.
When you click Back to project, you get a choice:
Save your changes, or discard them to return to the most recently saved version.
Save and go back Discard changes
If you choose Discard changes, the project rolls back to the most recently saved version — anything since then is gone. Use it deliberately.
3New data won't show
Just saved a change, but it doesn't appear in the project list or in another module? It's almost always a stale view in your browser, not lost data — your changes are saved on the server.
Try this in order:
- Reload the page (the browser's refresh button or F5).
- Reopen the project from the project list — that pulls up the latest version.
- Clear the cache or open a private/incognito window if it still acts up.
A project has its own address in the URL (?project=…). Reload that page and Arcili always fetches the latest saved version of that exact project.
4The project feels locked or 3D won't load
The project feels locked. Seeing Could not open project or Project not found, or the module won't respond? Go back to the project list and reopen the project. If that doesn't help, log out and back in — that clears an expired session.
The 3D view is black or won't load. The 3D design in Project development runs on WebGL in your browser. If the view is black or freezes:
- Use an up-to-date browser (latest Chrome, Edge, or Safari).
- Make sure hardware acceleration is enabled in your browser settings.
- Close heavy tabs — 3D uses more GPU than the rest of the app.
- On mobile: 3D modeling works best on desktop. Use a computer for detailed design.
If Could not save project appears repeatedly, or Saving… is stuck after 30 seconds: save your work to a note as a backup and contact support. Don't leave the project until you have a confirmed Saved, so you don't lose your latest changes.
