Troubleshooting: Download again fails

Why a re-download can fail even when the original export succeeded, where you see the error, and what to do.

Updated 5 June 2026

When you re-run an earlier export with Download again, the file is rebuilt from scratch against live data — not a stored copy. That is why a re-download can fail even though the original export succeeded. Here are the causes, where you see the error, and what to do.

1How "Download again" works

Every completed export is saved as a notification in the notification center. Exports that succeeded show the Download again button. When you click it, Arcili rebuilds the file using the same filters as last time — but against the latest data.

Export notification

Properties — extract · result.xlsx 124 rows Download again

Note

The re-run is asynchronous. The file is assembled in the background via the download center in the lower-right corner. It downloads itself when ready — you can keep navigating in the meantime.

2Why a re-download can fail

Because the re-run hits live data, the result may differ from the first time:

  • Data was deleted or changed since the original export — for example a company that has ceased, or a property whose registration was updated.
  • The filter now matches nothing. If an area, municipality or criterion has narrowed, the extract can return 0 rows and therefore an empty file.
  • A temporary error in one of the public registers (BBR, CVR, EJF, land registry, plan data) the export pulls from.
Tip

If you get an empty file rather than an error, it is usually the filter — not a technical fault. See Troubleshooting: empty results in exports and reports.

3Where you see the error

A failed re-run appears as a new notification with a red status:

Notification center

Properties — extract · result.xlsx Failed

The Failed status is shown in red with a warning icon. While the file is still building, you can follow it in the download center, where the phase changes — and on failure the text reads Error: … with the specific error message.

Important

A failed export does not itself have a Download again button. That button only appears on exports that succeeded. So re-run from an earlier completed export, or start a fresh export from Properties or Companies.

4How to fix it

  1. Open Notifications and select the Exports filter to see only downloads.
  2. If it failed, start a new export from the relevant module with updated filters — that way you deliberately hit the current data state.
  3. If the extract returns 0 rows, loosen the filters (area, municipality, price) and try again.
  4. If the error persists across several attempts, it is likely a temporary register fault — wait a moment and retry, or contact support with the error message from the download center.
